ORGANIC RANKINE CYCLE (ORC)

The Rankine cycle is a thermodynamic cycle that converts heat into work which is generally use water as working fluid. The Rankine cycle based on water provides almost 85% of worldwide energy production.

The Organic Rankine Cycle principle is based on a turbo generator that functioning as a conventional steam turbine which will converts thermal energy into mechanical energy and then transforms into electrical energy via generator. Instead of generating water vapour from the water, the ORC system evaporates an organic liquid characterized by the higher molecular weight of the water, which leads to a slower rotation of the turbine, lower pressures and no erosion of the metal parts and blades.
